Christmas in November

Though it is now, December, and time for people to start feeling the love for Christmas, people have been in the Christmas spirit for quite a few weeks, now. Though I'm only eighteen, I still remember that when I was younger, that Christmas music didn’t start until after Thanksgiving, usually not until December started. The Christmas decorations didn’t go up in the town until then either. But this year, which upset me very much, the Christmas decorations in the towns went up before thanksgiving and the Christmas music started before Thanksgiving, as well. I was flipping through the radio a few days before Thanksgiving and I stopped on 102.5 and I heard Christmas music playing. I don’t understand it. Christmas is such a wonderful time of the year, and people are already excited for it to come before they start playing the music. But then, when they start all of these Christmas traditions early, people start getting excited for the holiday before the holiday prior to Christmas is even over. After being excited for Christmas before Thanksgiving, by the time that Christmas is here, people are tired o fit and the joy and excitement of the holiday is already gone, and some people are ready for it to be over. And this, is a darn shame since Christmas is the most wonderful holiday ever.

  1. I know exactly what you are talking about! I drove home three weeks before Thanksgiving, to see someone in my neighborhood, putting up their Christmas decorations! November barely even started, and they practically passed over Thanksgiving already! It sort of takes away from 'the magic of Christmas' when everyone rushes everything. There is NO time to slowly ease into it, and enjoy every moment of the preparations, or the cookie baking, or the decorating, or even the Christmas spirit when Frosty is staring at you from the store shelves before the turkey starts being cooked! It is getting ridiculous, and being made less into a holiday, and more into a publicity thing. The spirit is slowly draining little by little, and I sort of feel bad for kids these days, because a lot of them don't know what Christmas USED to be like. All the traditions are being strained. It's disappointing. :(

  2. Well Cody I could not agree with you more. I dont like Christmas music anyway, and the thought of them playing it any earlier than they already do kills me. They have also had Christmas things up in the Dollar Store in Marissa since Halloween. I went in there to get stickers for a scrapbook page and about fell over, but thats besides the point. I think you should call all the radio stations and remind them it's only Thanksgiving (next year) and to not play them so early! =)
