Do People Really Sing These Kind of Songs?

I was talking to my dad last night and we were talking about all kinds of music. We talked about the different genres and how some of it people listen to, and how they listen to it. Well my father brought up Ray Stevens, who he thinks is funny. I got on my computer, pulled up YouTube and found some of his videos. He is actually the person who originally made the Purple People Eater song and the Witchdoctor who we all know from the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie or just from hearing it in the past. Well among all of the songs I heard, this one caught me by surprise, it was very funny but odd at the same time. I just want to know what was in this man's mind when he wrote these songs. Like I wonder if these have been real experiences or if he just thought it up. Also, do people really listen to these songs other than just for a laugh? Like, do people have songs like this on their iPods and jam out to them in the car or while they run? I don’t know... But if they do, I mean, its them and that must just be how they roll.

  1. WOW! I love this song; I actually have it on my iPod because it is that funny! My grandpa is obsessed with this guy who is singing. I think it is actually a very cute and funny song that took lot of thinking to make up a song this silly. I like how it says that it made her confess her sins while the squirrel was in her dress. It is kind of gross though. I didn’t know that he is the guy who sang the purple people eater song. There was this TV show when I was little that I always watched and the purple people eater was the theme song and I used to think it was the best and funniest song ever.
